Clara graduated in 2019, having studied with Ian Bousfield and Rex Martin in Bern, Switzerland. During her 5 years there she achieved a BA in music and an MA in pedagogy, majoring in trombone performance with modules in piano and accompaniment. Prior to studying in Bern Clara attended Wells Cathedral School where she studied with Alan Hutt and Emily White.
Since moving to London after her graduation, Clara has had extensive experience as a freelancer. She has played with ensembles such as the London Musical Theatre Orchestra, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, Irish National Opera, St Martin’s Brass, Echo Ensemble and No Limits Street Band.
She is comfortable in a variety of styles including musical theatre, classical, jazz and pop. Her experience as a freelancer has brought her to play at, among others, Vogue World 2023, as a dep on the King and I UK tour, a band member for Adele Live and on ITV’s 2023 New Years Eve Special. She also regularly plays in function bands in and around London. She has been the chair holder for off west-end shows including Urinetown, Merrily We Roll Along, Sweet Charity, Sweeney Todd and more.

Clara believes strongly in the educational power of music, and to that end works as a teacher throughout North London, both privately and with Haringey Music Service.
A holder of an MA in pedagogy from the University of Bern, Clara is an accomplished teacher of trombone, piano, trumpet and music theory, as well as a whole class brass teacher, a conductor and a workshop leader.
She has worked in outreach with Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and National Youth Orchestra of Ireland, and maintains a varied and interesting teaching schedule alongside her freelance trombone playing.
